#NewBoardGameTheme

For a few months, I've been tweeting some quick premises for board games under the #NewBoardGameTheme hashtag. I didn't really have a core agenda for the tag except that I just wanted to bring up some themes with under-explored player interaction, non-eurocentric historical themes, and no presumption of violence as a means to solve problems. Whoops! I guess that is an agenda after all. ¯\_(ツ)_/¯ For posterity, here are the pitches as of January 20, 2014: Asymmetric strategy game about taking down the tobacco industry from 1950 to 2000. #NewBoardGameTheme — Daniel Solis (@DanielSolis) October 30, 2014 Intervention: Use Pandemic's outbreak mechanism as a model for addiction relapse and recovery. #NewBoardGameTheme — Daniel Solis (@DanielSolis) October 30, 2014 Co-op game about the Civil Rights movement. Each player has competing methods/philosophies. #NewBoardGameTheme — Daniel Solis (@DanielSolis) October 30, 2014 Laying the fiber infrastructure of...

#TweetTreasure [Twitter]

And then there was the time a bunch of people on Twitter came up with a bunch of treasures and magic items under the hashtag #TweetTreasure. Sadly, I neglected to save them all, but a few are commemorated in this Dragon Age Oracle post: @wordwill: Rod of Misrule: This simple wooden branch, wrapped in twine at one end, compels its bearer to tell lies. #TweetTreasure @sodmikail: Witch-hunter Ring: Hold the ring to your eye. Peering through it will reveal any glamour or illusion. #tweettreasure @highmoon: The wearer of the Polyglot’s Earring understands any spoken sentient language except their native one(s). #TweetTreasure More are saved in this FriendFeed history: » Photo: CC-NC-SA-BY Ben Beard

A little gift for my thousandth Twitter follower

Image
Last week I noticed I was inching ever closer to a thousand Twitter followers. It thought, "Hey, I should do something nice for Mr. or Ms. 1,000." Turns out it was Mr. Matt Bogen who sent my count over two milliwheatons! As thanks, I'm sending him signed copies of Do: Pilgrims of the Flying Temple and Happy Birthday, Robot! » @MattBogen

#DoCrossover [Twitter]

I have really fun brainstorming sessions with twitterfolk. I'd like to save those conversations for posterity, so I'm experimenting with Storify and starting a new "Twitter" tag. Storify lets you embed a whole stream of related social media units into a single widget. Each tweet has live links so you can reply and retweet straight from the widget, too. Saves me the work of directly linking to each tweet. Really enjoying it so far. Hope you dig it, too! [ View the story "Dear Pilgrims of the Flying Temple - #DoCrossover" on Storify]
